As UTLA Secretary, Jennifer McAfee has been committed to transparency regarding all UTLA structures, policies, and procedures. Her organizational skills have been integral in shaping the role of Secretary into one that is efficient and considerate of all member voices.
Denisha Jordan currently serves as Treasurer for the UTLA/NEA Service Center and PACE, adhering to a fiduciary duty to all UTLA members. In addition, Denisha is an active member of the California Teachers Association (CTA) Budget Committee, where she has gained valuable experience in planning, preparing, and managing a large budget.
Maria Miranda has worked tirelessly as the UTLA Elementary Vice President, and has been point officer on our union’s work for immigration justice, LGBTQIA+, and Community Schools. Maria has worked in collaboration with school leaders, UTLA Committee chairs, district officials and with school board members to enforce and pass district policy that positively impacts student learning conditions and working conditions of educators.
Georgia Flowers-Lee, NEA VP, and point officer for BSAP and Special Education, has fought and won critical services for our students and has been an advocate for UTLA policies at the local, state and national level. Georgia is dedicated to protecting student interests for BSAP and Special Education programs throughout the district.
MARIA MIRANDA has been instrumental in creating and implementing UTLA's Rapid Response Network teams that have provided support and protection for immigrant students and their families.
Denisha Jordan & Georgia Flowers Lee work closely with Reclaim Our Schools Los Angeles, helping to build and strengthen relationships with our parents and community organizations.
Our union work as a team has enhanced community involvement, focusing on building strong partnerships and networks. We have created new relationships with community organizations and neighboring local unions
